Options Trading part 3..

My trade on Monday of 4 UPS options contracts, made 21% ROI in 24 hours, and I said it was miserable.. Purchase price US$2.30 per option share (4 contracts = US$920.00)

I have issued a Sell to Close order on those 4 contracts today at US$4.80 per option share.. US$1,920.00 for a whopping 108% returns on investment in 48 hours!!! WOOHOO!!

Buy $920.00
Sell $1,920.00
Profit $1,000

ROI $1,000 / $920 = 108%

this brings my average ROI from 37.6% to 50.8%

Options Trading.. the story continues..

It's been 27 days since I first traded options using Mirriam's strategies.

Thus far, if I liquidate every single trade I have, I would have spent US$6,100 and made US$2,296 in nett profits.

That's 37.6% ROI in less than 4 weeks.

Of course, the most current trade I'm doing (which i purchased yesterday), I won't sell it just yet for a miserable 21% returns. I'd wait a few more days for it to move some more.

Oh yah.. that's 21% in 24 hours!! and i call it miserable returns..

Tell me which financial institution gives you that sort of returns?

Valentine's Day 2007

A few months ago, I met someone.

Initially I thought to myself... hmm.. pretty girl.. but princess attitude.. didn't give her much thought after that..

over the next 2 months, i got to know her through our msn and sms conversations and found her rather interesting..

we met up 3 times casually, and again i thought nothing of it.. yes there were a lot of teasing and flirting (if u can call it that).. but a princess nevertheless.. i was kinda guessing that it could be that all the guys have been treating her like one, therefore naturally she felt comfortable acting one..

i wasn't sure why i told her what i did over the next few weeks.. i went against every concern i had about this "relationship".. distance was a big one.. i wasn't into long distance relationships.. princess attitude? potential time-bomb..

i asked if she would consider a courtship.. a process of getting to know each other better with a potential future in mind..

she was rather non-committal.. well.. it is afterall, a courtship.. we weren't going steady or in a b/g relationship.. i was fine with that..

throughout the time we spent getting to know each other, i truly enjoyed myself.. when we were physically apart due to the distance, i guess we drew closer through our quality conversations, and it is one of my major love languages.

i am certain that she also enjoyed herself while "being" with me..

at times we surprise each other so much with the similarities we share, it was a bit scary..

things started to change early this yr.. she had asked me to plan a trip overseas together..

initially i wasn't too keen on the idea.. this becos i've seen too many people breakup after their first holiday together, esp if they took the holiday after only being together for a short while.. but i slowly tot to myself, why not? i guess it might have shown up as a lack of enthusiasm, but to me, there was more than 6 months to plan, so i took my time.. anyway, this was a holiday to australia, where i've lived for 7.5 yrs.. no big deal..

late jan, she told me in an email.. "just as i had hoped, my best fren will most likely be touring Aust with me".. yes.. quoted correctly.. and she continues.. "it's totally awesome and i'm beyond excited.. will update you on my Aus travel"..

hmm.. and here i had thought she wanted me to go to Aus with her.. seems more like it's a holiday for her and her best fren..

well.. i wasn't a happy camper.. and i told her in a rather sarcastic manner that i was happy for her that she had found her perfect travel partner and i could save $$ and not go.

she did apologise for being insensitive about it, but i felt she was unhappy that i was sarcastic to her.. i called her to say that i was sorry too and we put the matter to rest..

oh ya.. during that convo.. she said that it could end up being 3 or 4 girls going on the trip..

then she did what i would consider the biggest "princess" decision she could ever make..

another few days later, she smsed me to tell me that they had a discussion and decided that they were going to have an all girls holiday for female bonding time.. and that i have been bumped off..

erm.. from 2.. to 3.. and 4 maybe 5, and finally 3 girls minus me.. aiks? what happened there? was i consulted at all during all this? nope..

decisions were made, and i got the short end of it..

now.. what do i do from this point forward?

firstly, let me say that, this has actually happened to me before.. she was a friend.. we made plans to go on a holiday becos she was stressed and needed a break..
and then she asked me not to go becos she was hoping this other guy would decide to go with her instead.. but the guy couldn't confirm.. but she didn't tell me what the reason was.. she was just erm-ing and ahm-ing and i had to find out from another person tt that was the real reason.. it got me pissed off enough to tell her to f-off.. yes.. i told a girl to f-off.. i dont use vulgarities often, and almost never in front of a girl, let alone to a girl.. i refused to talk to her for almost a yr, until she initiated the friendship again a yr later.

here's a similar situation.. she already knew i wasn't happy about her initial decision and her remarks with the best fren thingo.. and here she goes doing it again.. this time in my eyes.. worse..

back to my decision making dilemma..

i could.. bitch about it somemore, and thus be a total jerk

or i could accept that she's still young and got over excited about the whole scenario and forgot that she was dealing with a fellow human being

or i could shut up and continue accepting her princess attitude

or i could just walk away from the courtship and revert to ordinary friends..

i guess you have to know something about me. i have high esteem for myself and do not accept crap from people.

i'm sure the 2nd choice would seem reasonable.. she's young etc etc..

total Bull Shit!!

youth is not an excuse for bad behaviour. bad behaviour is an outward expression of an internal character flaw. and this character flaw is big enough for me to reconsider..

and i have reconsidered.. i am now her friend, an ordinary friend. decision made 14 Feb 2007.. valentine's day.

Options Trading

I attended a 4-day Jan 2007 seminar on Options Trading in Singapore and on the final seminar day, 30th Jan 2007, I decided to virtual trade using a strategy called a Straddle.

It was an LLL Feb 80 Call and Put, together the premium was $3.15

3 days later (2nd Feb 2007) I sold the Call for $5.80. The Put is worth very little currently. I expect to let it expire worthless.

I made 84% returns in a matter of 3 days.

Also, I saw that COH crossed and closed above the 22dma line on 29th Jan. On 30th Jan it opened above the 22dma, and I thought to do a Short Term trade.

I bought a COH Feb 45 Call only intending to be in it for 3 days. The premium was $0.85. I placed a Stop Loss at $0.50

I sold it 2 days later (1st Feb 2007) at $1.85, with a 117% return.

Not bad eh?

An Inconvenient Truth

I watched this Documentary Film today and I am moved to action.

Make the effort to watch this movie. And then do something about the world we live in. It's the only one we have.

rainy days and mondays...

yesterday (monday) i wanted to take John, my sydney client to Hajjah Maimunah Restaurant. They have 2 outlets, the original in Jalan Pisang (one of the streets near Arab Street, between Bugis and Lavender MRT), and the newer outlet in Joo Chiat Road, closer to Geylang Serai.

In my opinion, they serve one of the best Nasi Padang/Kandar in Singapore. Huge variety, loads of yummy unusual dishes.. I love their Ulam (raw veges to be eaten with rice).. hmm.. actually I don't like that definition.. it's not your typical garden variety of veges.. many of these veges are from the jungle and not commonly eaten by non-malay non-village people.. my favourite? kacang botol (winged bean or goa bean) with sambal belachan and prawns.. yumm.. and also pucuk ubi masak lemak (young sweet potato leaves in rich coconut-tumeric gravy).. man i'm finding it hard to translate the names to english..

anyways, John has been to the one at Jalan Pisang thought it was fantastic, and even tho he doesn't eat much spicy stuff, he still enjoyed the meal.

anyways, back to the story... got there, and the restaurant was closed!!.. so, we decided to go further down the road, to try the popular bak-kut-teh (claypot pork ribs in a herbal soup) stall which opens 24 hours.. EXCEPT on mondays.. sigh.. this wasn't turning out good at all.

then i remembered.. it's monday!!! there's no pork in the market on mondays.. sigh..

ended up at a corner coffeeshop and i had dry prawn noodles, while John went for the Wanton Noodles.. it was quite nice actually.. the prawn noodle soup was dense and full of flavour.. they gave me 2 big prawns sliced in halves .. and we also ordered a prawn roll.. (pork and prawn fillings wrapped in bean curd skin, and then deep fried)..

John said in Sydney, he would think the total cost would be AU$30-40 (SG$36-48).. in the end, with 2 iced home made barley drinks, it was only SG$15...

anyways, didn't end up doing much.. John went back to his hotel to sleep becos it was really hot at the time and he was starting to get a headache, and i decided to go to Ikea Tampines to shop for Christmas..

oh yah.. John had commented several times in the last 2-3 days, "WHAT MONSOON?? Who says it's monsoon season?? I have never seen it rain in Singapore except for once in all my visits!!"

and he's been here 5 times this year.

and guess what?.. the skies opened and it rained like mad!! i didnt realise it until i was walking out of Ikea.. in the taxi, we couldnt even see 20m in front of us..

I smsed John.. "yeah.. and you said WHAT MONSOON?? you spoke too soon mate!"

he called back and laughed.. he was running back to his hotel from the antique shop at chinatown becos it had started raining..

funny guy..
